lifted v6
I got a v6 lifted with 285/75/16's. I got no problem with it. when i was still stock(a long time ago) with the lift and the tire change i lost some acceleration with my 3.08's. I got 4.10's now and almost ever bolt on so i got no problems. Are u 2wd or 4wd? What gearing u got?
hell yea
I think thats the best thing to do with and truck, i ahve a 98 f150 v-6 and have 10inch lift (7inch fabtech suspension lift and 3inch body) i am running 38-12.50 on a 16.5 inch rim i have had not one problem, but if u do put bigg tires dont neglect to change your gears i went with 456 and it doin just fine

Also, how sluggish is it compared to stock?

I had a 98 4x4 with a 4.6 v8....changed to 33 intires and a body lift...I created a real dog.
Mine came with 235x75x16 tires (alternate is 255x70x16) and its a big ump to 33's....since it was a 4x4, I had to decide to change gears in TWO axles or switch back the tires...OR...life with a dog.
After a year I sold the truck...looked good but really needed the gears changed
I would not do it to a V6 without planning the gear change as a part of the lift...

Ive got a 2001 V6 with a 3.5 in spindle lift on 285/75/R16 tires and I absolutely love it. I dont have new gears, but am planning on it soon, BUT I have a Superchip and we all know what a difference that makes. What I am saying is that you better do something in the area of making your truck a little bit faster either before or sometime shortly after to push the bigger tires. Chip and re-gear seems like a good way to go to me.

Are you sure you want to lift?
How new is your ride? I have my V6 on 35s with Fabtech's 6" and 3" Body. Had to upgrade almost everything...intake, headers, exhaust, chip, and 4.56LS Gears and still wish I had more power. What really bums me out is that it's a 2wd. I didn't realize until it was all done that I wish I had a 5.4 V8 4x4 I had done this to. If this is your everyday truck it's gonna cost you some cash to be satisfied with your setup - but let me tell you they look beautiful!
I have a 97 v-6, 5 speed, 2wd, with a fabtech 7" kit on it and 315/75/16's (35s). I had to put 4.56s in it in order to even make it move but the gears made a world of difference!! I also re-calibrated my speedometer which helped alot as well( it was off 20+%). I have had no problems with power. My truck still does over a hundred in overdrive. The only power mods i have done are exhaust and K&N air filter system. I have even taken in in sand and eventhough it's 2wd, i've yet to get it stuck. I have no complaints about what i've done to my truck.

Hey wake chick.....
I dont mean to nic pic but how in the heck, without a chip to change your speed limiter, do you get an f150 to exceed 90 something miles per hour.. its not possible.. I think your speedo is still off... what did you use to recalibrate your speedo..
or did you just forget to mention in your mods that you had a chip too.... my 150 will break 100.... but then again... only becuase I have the speed limmit removed by Troyer and his boys......

I had my local dealership recalibrate my speedometer. All Ford dealerships have the equipment to do it but finding a tech with the knowledge is hard. i have a really good local dealership North Bay Ford in Santa Cruz,CA that took care of it for me. And no, to answer your question I dont have a chip. I have a k&n air filter, edelbrock cat-back exhaust and 4.56 gears. I'm sorry if you dont beileve me but my truck will do over a hundred any day of the week. To answer why yours probably wont go as fast is simple. Do you have a manual or auto tranny? I have a manual which actually gives my truck about 15 to 20 more horsepower than an automatic. And i dont mean to nit pick but if you would have done your homework you would know that you DONT HAVE to have a chip to recalibrate your speedometer. My dealership did it for me for 45 bucks. It took them about 15 minutes and it's within 1% of being accurate. I know this because i used my g.p.s. system to make sure after i got it done.

Hey
Im really sorry.. I was not trying to flame you in anyway. It is just common knowledge that no f150 will break 100 due to the speed limmiter that ford has programmed into every computer. I dont think that a dealer can remove that computer function, and if they did somehow, Id love to know how they did it. I have a great dealer here too, and they always turn a blind eye to my perf mods and dont give me crap about voiding my warr.. .
As for my truck, its an 01, 5 speed, chiped, exhaust, intake and ported heads, and it will very easily break the 100 mph barrier.
But before I had the chip, with the other mods... id hit 97 and the fuel supply would die just like every other non chipped, or power module f150 out there..... its just a fact.
