4.2 Replacement

Hello

My 4.2 engine is dead, I am now a proud member of a select group. Mine went out at a great time, after I returned from Iraq and a week before I came to Korea; so I really don't miss it.

Well my question is how many labor hours , and what other cost should I be aware of when I have my engine replaced, other than the long block itself.

thanks

Sorry about your bad luck. Are you doing the work or having a shop do it? I know you are in the military so you might get a discount at some shops. A Ford long block cost about $1600.00 and a short block about $950.00. Total install can be anywhere up to about $3500.00. Or,you can go the used engine way and get one for about $700.00 to $1500.00. Install on a used engine is anywhere from $300.00 to $500.00.Good luck and keep us posted on what you do.
