Greetings,

Started my 02 v6 the other day and it was loud! Really loud. I opened the hood and swore that the starter motor was still running (not engaged, just spinning). It did that for about a minute - before I could get underneath to verify, it stopped. Later that same day, it did the same thing - this time for only about 5 seconds and hasn't done it sense then.

Anyone ever seen this weird problem before? Other than that - no problems with with about 22K mi on it.

Any thoughts appreciated!

Also - just curious - the 4.2l 6 is no longer offered in the F150 right? Is this motor used in any other Ford models or is it orphaned now?

 

It is still offered but only in the Heritage model and not the redesigned '04 model. And I think in the Freestar minivan.

 

hi check out starters whats up hope this helps had about the same problem at around 20,000 mile finally replace the flywheel and starter at 70,000 miles so far so good.
