Question new owner of '99, need advice

I've had 2 Rangers over the past 7 years and transmission troubles with both of them. Then I realized that the Mazda tranny was a piece of crap, so I thought I'd try the f-150. I use these trucks as secondary work vehicles and I always try to maintain them well.
I was wondering what kind of problems are common to the f-150 so I can keep a watch on them. If there's anything that I should check or change now, please let me know.

Thanks

Start with changing the fuel filter and cleaning the MAF.
