Got the chance to check the MPG after the electric fan install. I took a 228 mile trip yesterday.

Half of the trip was with the A/C on and there was a lot of stop and go. And lots of hills. Not very much interstate travel.

Before install the best I ever got was 12.8 MPG, no matter how good or bad I drove.

I got 14.5 MPG on this trip! May not seem like much, but it adds up in the end. BTY my truck stock except for the fans. Not even a K&N.

The fans will pay for themself in about a year or two. Just depends on how much I drive.

 

Can you give us the specs on your fans? The price, kind and where ya got em? Can i get away with one fan on a V6?

 

Yes. I have the flex-a-lite 'Black Magic' fan. Cost about $185 through Summit. Ordered online, and it was delivered within 24 hours! It is a 'universal' kit so install was a bit of a PITA - took almost a full day including time to go rent a fan removal tool. I've had it on my truck for a few years and I live in a pretty hot climate - no problems.

When the electric fan isn't running, the truck is much quieter than stock. I could not feel much if any power increase, but did start getting better mpg (at least 0.5 mpg increae, probably more) with the e fan.

 

What would be a reasonable price to pay for labor to have a shop do it for you?
