4.2L Crank
yep im going to stroke a 3.8 to a 4.2. Im pretty sure all i need is the crank. Then take super coupe rods and some aftermarket pistons for 10:1 probably. Does anyone have a 4.2 block for sale?

If your getting the Super coupe Rods why not also get the pistons (they are forged and dished). Then you would not have to buy the expensive *** aftermarket forged pistons. P.S. Stay away from the hypereutic pistons, they tend to fragment in your engine. You will also need more than just the crank, rods, and pistons if you are going to stroke your 3.8L out to a 4.2L. With a lower 10:1 compression are you planning on using an power adder? If it's 10:1 one I am guessing you are looking at adding a power adder after the stroker is complete. Good luck and keep us updated. I am currently building up a stroked 3.8L block for my T-Bird.
Stock compression on a 4.2 is around 9.2:1 and 9.3:1 and I want to go with at least 10:1 or even 10.5:1 I don’t think anyone make a higher compression pistons. I don’t want to use the super coupes because the compression ratio is 8.5:1 that to low. I really want to stay all motor if I could find 13:1 or 14:1 pistons that would be awesome but i want to stay on premium fuel then use cam 2 for the strip. But does anyone have a 4.2 motor for sale?
Howdy Dude,
Try www.car-part.com
They'll have what you need. 4.2's are kinda high.
Good luck.....Paul

That would be me
Hi Stang,
Yes I have a 4.2. It is complete with 72K on it. It suffered from a coolant leak into the crankcase and ate the bearings up. In the process of doing a leak-down test with the pan off, the No. 1 piston skirt was damaged, so it would need a new piston. Otherwise it is great shape after a re-bearing. The engine was not specced out as far as roundness etc. but in my experience so far, the crank doesn't get sloppy when these fail. I can gaurantee that it will be useable. It ran fine at tear-down (except for the bearing knock).
It will serve your purpose perfectly as you want to stroke out a 3.8. You can use these rods and crank no problem.
