Lightbulb V6 Performance Upgrades

Seems the F150 Money Pit has hit me pretty hard. Need some opinions for doing some upgrades to a V6 Auto, I've got about $2K to work with

I was thinking of a replacement long duration Cam upgrade & Head work, Electric Fans & Underdrive Pullies.

Is this possible with that limitation of funds...

Don't want no Blower...

Well 2k is a good amount, go with an exhaust, if you want loud go with the 40 series, but if you want quieter go with the 50 series delta flow (all flowmaster). Use 2.5 pipes NO larger because you will loose power and NO duals because you will LOOSE power. The get a full intake system like an airaid or volant. Then, get a superchip from mike troyer along with electric fans and underdrive pulleys and all that should run you about 1k, with the extra, you could port, your tb, get some head work and cam work but get the other stuff first. JBA headers are an option, many say that dont do that much, but with all those mods they might help a little and they run about 400 bucks and installation is a biatch. Hope this helps!

Don't want to seem rude, but if I were you I would first focus on upper/lower intake, heads, and cam work first. Then look at the bolt on department after. This does not mean there is anything wrong with the previously mentioned mods (underdrive pulleys ect...), they are great and do result in HP/TQ gains, some of the previously mentioned mods I myself want to get for my truck. But dollar for HP/TQ you get more out of intakes/heads/cam work.

I have a 92 T-Bird I have put alot of work into, and when I started to first mod it, I went for all of the bolt ons available, which cost a pretty penny. In hindsight, after the bolt ons, I got my heads, intakes, and cam reworked, I realized I would have originally been better off spending my money on the intakes, heads, and cam, then went for the bolt ons (underdrive pulleys, elec. fan, etc...) as I could afford them. If the name of the game is best HP/TQ per dollar I would place my bets any day on intakes/heads/cam performance work. One thing is depending on how serious you go with the intakes, heads, and cam, you may likely need a chip (something like Troyer performance sells, and no I am not on the pay roll hehe).

Anyway this is just my two cents, take it or leave it. Good luck.

Here is a place I know does great work, including packages for 4.2L's. This should get you started:

Thanks much for the info:

I've just bought a cherry picker yesterday, going to be removing the
engine over the weekend, and begin
the tear down sequence.
