Factory warranty question

My daughters soccer coach has a ford bought new.The tranny went out.$1900 rebuilt. Here is the catch. The factory warranty was void according to ford because he missed a scheduled maintenance for the tranny by 3000 miles. He spent 3 hours on the phone with the warranty dept-no good.He losses.Any thoughts?

Does he have any receipts that would prove he did the maintenance, or any kind of a log he kept that might have the date and mileage he did the maintenance? I would say without any receipts he may be out of luck.

When I do my own maintenance, from oil changes, manual trans fluid, rear-end fluid etc I have a log book with the date and mileage. I also keep all the receipts for the oils or what ever I buy. The log book with date and mileage along with receipts would be just about impossible for Ford to deny.
