Anyone here had a Bronco II or Ranger with a 2.9L EFI? What kind of stuff can give this engine some more power...

I may be way off but I thought that was the same engine used in the capri's.. small ones.. for a while and that there are tons of things you can do from cams to carbs to exhaust.. try doing a web search for capris...

i had one and the best thing we did to it was a small block

 

2.9s were fast from the factory. Can't help you with the parts though, sorry. They felt faster than the 3.0 that replaced them.

 

 

I know it isn't suppose to be extremely fast or powerful or anything just wanted some parts options...I was considering going with a '87 throttle body, it is 58mm, the '88 and up engines used a 50mm throttle body. Would this make some nice difference?

 

hey, I had a 2.9 86 ranger.

as mentioned above it was replaced by the 3.0

but for the record... the 2.9 was the basis of the 4.0 that is tstill in use...

thats right.... the good old 2.9 was bore3d or stroked to get the 4.0...

so maybe some 4.0 components might work

 

Ok I will start looking at 4.0L parts...Also would that larger TB be better?

 

Ok I can get a 4.0L throttle body for $10! so if there any difference form the 4.0 and the '87 2.9L throttle body? Which one would be better?
