2001 Exhaust Leak, please help

This morning I found a small puddle under my truck
('01 4.2 supcab 43k miles and no other problems till now).
There's a leak coming from underneath, between the union
of the manifold ( the segment coming down from the engine) and the first segment to the exhaust. Sorry about my ignorance.
Could it be coolant? I should ck the level right?, oil in dip stick looks ok.
Jeeez, sickening thoughts of failing gaskets and '97 type problems wont go away; just how concerned should I be guys?
Before bringing her to the dealer, for the 1st time btw, I need to
be a little more (alot) knowledgeable and maybe the manager won't pee on me and tell me it's rainning. It's true, some mechs see a woman and think of the fishing rig they want for x-mas.
I know I'm just babbling now, sorry.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Did the leak show up before or after the cross pipe (the pipe that connects both sides of the engine to the exhaust). The reason I ask is that I have 2001 with the same problem. Those 97 horrors ran through my mind ( I traded a 97 for my current truck), but its a simple problem. There is a connection in the exhaust right there held together by an exhaust clamp (only one on the truck which is interesting) and connection gets loose from the heating and cooling cycles and eventually will leak condensation. It also made my truck squeak a little (which is how I discovered it). I tightened it up and its been perfect ever since.

BTW - very few people have had any problems with the newer (post-98) V-6s. Once Ford fixed the gasket issues, these motors have been great. I've got 49k and never had a problem.

I hope this cured your leaky exhaust.
