2002 f150?
2002 f150?
i was looking at buying a new 2002 f150 (my first truck) with the 4.2 liter engine. i dont haul anything except my 4-wheeler, and never pull anything except maybe a small trailer now and then. my question is that is all the motor i should need right? there is no need to go to the v-8? thanks for your input.
v6 is awesome
The v6 is great, I had it in my last 2 trucks, (2001 Supercab XLT, and 2002 Supercab XLT) And it is great, it has a bunch of horsepower, and great torque, I towed a 5000 lb. Travle trailer from South Texas to Colarado with no problems! I hall a 4-wheeler too, and it hauls it just awesome!
The v6 is great on fuel (I got over 18 in town, 21 on highway) and it is just an all-a-round good motor.
I know have the 5.4 in my 2002 Supercrew 4x4 off road, and honestly can not tell much difference in the larger engine, the only difference is that I now only get 12 miles per gallon!
Hope this helps,
Wesley

For me the V8 is better. I need the extra ponies and torque. I tow 16 foot trailors at times and like being able to race around a bit.
If your not doing a whole lot of towing or hauling around alot of weight, the V6 will work for you.
But, if you like to race ricers and don't mind paying a little more for gas...you may want to consider the V8.
