need honest opinions
hey guys,
im new to the forums, and everyone here seems to have really good knowledge, so this is the right place to get good answers.
here goes.
i want to sell my truck and buy a mustang(i hate to part with her but i dont need her any more) and just dont know what to ask for her. you see, the transmission has started slipping very badly and i dont want to fix it, i want to sell it as is, and the temperature gauge is not working either other than that she's a work horse!
here's what it has.
95 f150 XL
4AOD ( SLIPPING BAD)
4.9 300 6
116,000 GOOD MILES( engine is perfect)
no mods.
emerald green ( paint is not bad, but it has it's scratches)
long wheel base
bed liner
plastic truck box
bf goodrich allterrain t/a's 30/9.50's(still have some life)
cold a/c
clarion cd player with upgraded pioneer rear speakers
vinyl bench seat
blue book says's 4,100 as is, but i need f 150 people to tell me what they would pay for it, because they would be inheriting my tranny problem.
any input would be greatly appreciated.
so what do you think is fair to ask?
THANKS A HEAP!!

This is kinda tough. I would at least go to a tranny shop and get an estimate on the tranny. That way you can either fix it or let the potential buyer know what the exact problem is and adjust your price accordingly.
Hope this helps.

There is no way your going to get $4100 with a bad tranny, probably not that amount with a good one.
Bottom line is someone is going to have to pay for a tranny, if you fix it your price will reflect a working tranny, if someone else does it your price won't. It will be easier to get rid of with a working tranny, but you won't be able to recoup the amount that it cost to replace a tranny.
The 300 is a good motor, but 116k is still 116k. I'd do as a minimum what o2xlt suggests.
How much would you pay for a truck with 116,000 miles and a bad transmission??
