Purchasing New F150

I am interested in buying a new 2001 F-150 SuperCab this week. Thought I would look at 4.6 w/auto trans. What is a great deal on the truck? I have had offers around $21,000 but I would like to get dealers to come down several hundred more. Any suggestions? Thanks,

hard...no, impossible to answer with so little detail...but the general target is to get to around the invoice price plus get the rebates. if the dealer won't show the invoice price go to Edmunds.com or someplace and calculate it there.

or search these forums for a few threads about what people paid

no matter what you are looking for, pay no more than incoice. if you look around enough and don't get overly excited with their deals, you can do it. and don't be afraid to walk from a deal, if it doesn't sound really good, somebody else can beat it. ask some people how they got their trucks on "x-plans", or search for it. there is a way to get it for around 5% under invoice, if i remember correctly you send a check ($50?) to some company and they will give you a pin to use. i got mine on an a-plan, other wise i would have gone with the x-plan. good luck.

Well, I Bought a New Truck, But

Ok, I decided to buy a 4.6 because I found one with the 3.55 LS, tinted glass, and a few other mods. I really only plan to commute to work and haul my son and his rc racing gear to the track on the weekends. And, of course, a truck comes in handy for many other chores. I thought I would try out the 46 for better mileage since I don't plan to haul a heavy trailer any time soon. So, last night I signed papers and gave dealer a bank draft. I took off half a day of work today to go up to the country and pick up my 3/4 ton GMC for trade. I get to dealer, stand around again for an hour or so. Finally, after meeting with service advisor, he hands keys to me and asked that I try out second key. Well, I noticed the vin on the tag was different. I offered to try it and it started truck. But, in the meantime he went back to sales manager to check vin since truck number was different than that on paperwork. I had shook hands on this deal and signed all paperwork last night and presented a check. Well, salesman comes back into lobby and said that he had wrong truck for me! I made a deal on the truck outside, I was ready to drive off, and I noticed their error on vin. Well, they wouldn't let me have the damn truck, said it was a dealer trade with no holdback, and they could not sell it unless I paid an additional $500!. What bull**** they gave me at Gillespie Ford in San Antonio, TX! PS, I am posting this message elsewhere, I am sooo pissed!

Got mine at today at Invoice w/ rebates

Sorry about the shafting you got today John.

I did get mine today at Invoice:

2001 F150 SC XLT 5.4 Auto 2wd w/3.55LS tow + extras

MSRP $27,400 ADP $2500 Asking $29,900

INVOICE $24,378
Rebates $1,500 (until sept.5 when they drop to $1000)

Trade-in: 97 F150 SC XL 4.2 5spd 2wd air & 47K mi. $10,500
The rebates were added with this to get $12,000 from Invoice.

Best deal I found in 4 months. (Worked with the Fleet Manager)
Others might have gotten better, But here's my other experience.

Most sales managers only offered $6000-$7000 for mine if we were using Invoice figures.

Others would get me shy of $9,000 if we fudged around MSRP after knocking down Added Dealer Profit (ADP) or markup.

As for those $6000 of MSRP, Don't go in with a trade. They'll look at it like used toilet paper.

I hope your truck comes in!
Tim

New Truck

I bought my second new truck last night, lol! After the hassles earlier in the week, I found time to get out to another dealer and I purchased a SC w/5.4/auto, 3.55LS, and tow pack. Cost: $21,700. Its sitting in my driveway now! I really had my mind made up on a 4.6 but I decided to go for the 5.4 since I may eventually tow with this truck. My son and I were sure excited driving home last night with new vehicle. Dealer has gave me a bedliner and a coupon for 1 year of car washes at the local WashTub.

Sounds like you guys are getting good deals

I am surprised at how good of a deal everyone is getting. Congrats!!

I just bought a 2002 F-150 reg cab flairside (Black)
4.6L w/auto
3.55 gears
XLT appearance pkg. (honeycomb grill)
sliding rear window
everything power
power pedals
overhead compass and outside temp.
upgraded wheels
60/40 with fold down console area

I am probably leaving something off.

Sticker was $24,300
I paid $20,200

I ended up getting it for $1000 under invoice which is not bad for a 02 model.

I just got a new one too "check sig" sticker price Total MSRP was $37,520 I paid $33217.00 and that's with the extended powertrain 7/75 warranty that I got for some reason also have free oil changes with the life of that warranty at that dealership. the Standard MSRP Vehicle price was $32,115 . The extended warranty was $865 "ouch" but I do all city driving during the week and don't put that many miles on it so I figured what the hell plus what I think made me do it was the trainy work I had just had to have done on one of my other cars so that most likely was what scared me into it. hehe.

21,000 is a good price for an XLT 4x4 SuperCab
For a 2wd Lariat, I'd expect about 18,000, with the 4.6 auto.
Probably about 28,000 for the lariat 4x4 sc auto 4.6.

Attention to anyone wanting to buy a new ford vehicle,
i purchased 500 shares of ford stock through a direct investment plan. for those of you unfamiliar with it it is when you buy stock in a company directly from the company instead of going through a broker like charles schwab, and online companies like it. anyways because of that i was sent in the mail from ford a form to fill out to get an "X" plan on any vehicle ford makes. including the volvo and the land rover. i don't think you have to purchase 500 shares, but there is a minimal investment of $1000 to enroll in the direct purchase of the stock. a small amount considering the money you can save with an "X" plan. the web site to go to to invest is www.equiserve.com

I too just bought a 2002 SCREW. I got mine using the Ford X-plan. The sticker was 30890.00, and I was able to pick it up for 26489.00, which is 2% under invoice. It has the rear seat entertainment center, class III towing package, sliding rear window, 6 disk changer, basically all the goodies except leather!! I am happy with my deal!! If you can get the x-plan I would recommend it, it saves all the wheeling and dealing! Just sign and drive, paperwork and all took less than an hour!! If it only cost 40-50 bucks to get a pin #, DO IT IT IS WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!!
