2001 with low mileage dangerous?
2001 with low mileage dangerous?
Newbie here but have shopped used before.
Been looking at some F150's and recently came
across a 2001 with what seems to be real low miles,
15,000 and some change.
I did an Autocheck on the truck and it looks like a one
owner purchased in MD then it shows up
in NC.
No auction, accidents and it's hard to tell from pictures.
Been fooled already with pictures.
Maybe I'm being picky but all
the good priced vehicles are far away, hometown prices
are real bad.
I've read about title washing, but don't know how to
determine if that is being done on this one.

Sounds like a good deal if the price is right. I'd get it checked by a mechanic. If for no other reason, it appears to have been sitting for a while, which can be as hard on a rubber parts, etc. as driving it.
One caveat on any of the auto check sites... there's a disclaimer that basically says. "as reported to Auto Check" "as reported to Car Fax". That's a subtle way of letting you know that no issues were reported to their information sources but it doesn't in any way guarantee that it includes all possible issues involving the vehicle. Buyer beware... have it checked by your mechanic, if for no other reason that unbelievably low mileage.
I bought a 02 with just a hair under 23000 miles almost 3 years ago. No problems at all, but I got to see it first, got it inspected, etc. Definitely saw some low mileage stuff I wouldn't touch, after seeing pics and initially being impressed and driving far only to find strategically missing information and/or pictures.
I prefer to buy from private owners, so that there's all the records, but in my case, the thing looked so good, I just held my nose and did it.
