Unhappy X-Plan Price?

Has anyone ever bought a F-150 with the X-plan discount? A few years ago I bought a new Fusion with it but I wonder if you can negotiate a better price on your own?

I am curious to hear other experiences with the X-plan.

Got 10K off myself so I didn't look into it.

Doubtful, but you could always try. I also walked out the door about 10k lower than the sticker price.

Mine was below the X-plan and the A-plan. If the dealers you visit are offering those kinds of deals, I'ms sure they will offer them to you. However, my purcahse was during "truck month" where the deals were plentiful. I'm not sure how it is now.

Every month is "truck month" in this economy.

The X-plan will give me $2,000 off the sticker price of a 4WD STX plus all Rebates. Is this a good deal or do you think I can do better?

A confident dealer will show you their invoice price and give you a price $XXX over invoice. A dealer local to me advertised $400 over invoice as their pricing for non A-plan people.

By the way, KNOW what the current rebates are. Make sure to negotiate the price to be paid BEFORE rebates.

$10K off sticker with $5k to $6K in rebates isn't necessarily a good deal.

Xplan is a very good price, an it is easy number to work with when buying any vehicle. Rarely do dealers sell trucks below Xplan, but it can be done, and does happen. Back in 2008 when gas was $4.29 I paid less than Xplan when I got my new truck at $13k off of sticker including rebates. They just have to dig deeper in their profits, or fudge the numbers you your paying more than you think you are.

You can also ask for the Xplan price. When your ready to go home, and the sales manager asks: "What's it going to take to sell you that truck today?" Just answer: "If I could get it at the Xplan price, then I know I would not leave here today without it." Some dealers will tell you 'no thank you', but you only need one to say yes.
