Question Financing a 2001? HELP!!!

Hehehehe...well, I have awesome credit, and an even better trade-in, a 99' F-150 4X4. I was considering ordering a 2001 F-150, but the finance rate through Ford Motor Credit is 9.75%!!! When I had my 98 Ranger 4X4, it was 0.9%, and my F-150 is 6.9%. Right now the special financing on a 2000 us 6.9%, so I decided to get a 2000 F-150, but after 2 days of the dealer searching, theirs not 1 single truck that meets my match. They looked for a 2000 F-150 XLT 4X4 Reg. cab, black or white, Sport or Off-Road, 4.6L, or 5.4L, 5-speed or auto. with keyless entry, and premium CD, and theirs not a single one!!! So, now I'm stuck having to order a 2001, but the 9.75% will kill me. Is their any way possible to get 6.9% or better? They said they'd "shop" my credit for a better rate, but if they don't succede, I'm stuck with 9.75%. Any advice? TIA

Cool

I paid cash too...but here are some tips: check rates at your bank, and online, etc. to make sure Ford is inline. Ford will push a product associated with them usually. This is the three tiered rip off scam: Trade in, truck price, financing. That is why I sell myself, negotiate hard/research, pay cash. Dealers usually make one of these areas look good to you to interest you, and get you in any or all 3 if they can. My opinion only.

put it on a home equity loan you should be able to get the payments down that way.A lot of people are doing that nowadays> It gives you the cash for the truck so you can get a cut rate for paying cash.

Exclamation

Just spoke to my sales lady and she stated that as of today, the 4 or 5 year rate is 7.9% but of course the truck is a good six weeks away and she could change her tune.

I would check with your local bank first, home equity loans are good, also seen my mom borrow against her retirement and pay the interest back to herself a few years ago

Question

JDF- my financial savvy is ok...I have an MBA, and can spell savvy. With interest you are guaranteed to pay, with investments you are not usually guaranteed unless it yields low. My truck did not cost $25-30K, it cost $18,300. Not everyone is in the same financial position. Most of the stock market has had very low yields this year. The Index 500 has not earned one cent.

Jackal- I didn't say or mean to imply that people should pay cash. I suggested that buyers should compare rates. Sorry for the confusion; good luck.

9.75%!!!!
I have a 2001 on order and assumed it would be at the 6.9% that FORD currently has for 5 year financing. This could be a small problem. As far as these guys that say pay cash, they don't have very good finacial savy. Why would you take $25-$30K that could be earning you 15-20% or higher from an investment account and pay cash to avoid financing at less than 10%. Incidentilly, I could actually pay cash but I think my point is made. Also, I always take the longest financing term availble to have the lowest obligated payment and pay off early with higher payments at my own discretion.
