Need some help

I'm in the market for a 2006 F-150 4x2 regular cab with the 5.4L in dark shadow grey. I wish I could just special order one, but I've been told its to late to order an 06. So can anyone help me out? The less options the better. I'm in North Alabama, and would like to find one within 300 miles, but I was told by a dealer that he could only find one, and it had to many options on it. Would like to find one that has a MSRP under $28,000. Thanks in advance.

You can go to www.fordvehicles.com. You can search the local dealership inventory. Build first exactly how you want then search the inventroy. I like to use edmunds.com to get a reasonable price. Then you add in the rebates. IMO you should be able to get the truck for about $500 over invoice then subtract the discounts. That is what I just did. Is the color negotiable, that will make it easier. I looked for the dark shadow myself, but would have taken red, blue, black, white. I wound up with white, which is the same color as my last truck. To me white looks good when clean with dark tinted windows.

Thats a sharp looking truck man, and I've been searchin on that site like crazy for the past week, and nothing. 5.4L regular cabs are SUPER RARE. I did have a couple of dealers find one, but they were optioned out at over $29,000. I do have a dealer trying to see if he can still special order me one, or change one of his existing orders. So far I've been promised invoice + rebates. Might have to wait and special order an 07. Just hope DSG will still be available.

I hear you. I think regular cabs are rare to begin with. What about that 7700 GVW option? It should have the 5.4 and a 4.10 axle. Of course, that may drive the price up. In late 97, I bought a 98 truck with the 5.4. They didnt have many of the 5.4's around here then. I went from dealership to dealership only to be told time and time again that they didnt have any. I did find one. With the exception of the color that I wanted. I liked the color anyway, so it worked out.

Never heard of that option, but it sounds kinda pricey. My goal is to get one for know more than $21,500 after rebates.

Question

Hey guys! New to the forum and looking @ buying an F150 Screw FX4. Don't want to hijack the thread, but REALLY need some advice.
What kind of negotiating options are available if I'm looking @ buying used
I've done the Edmunds, KBB & NADA pricing and they vary ($21k to $28k). Let me tell you a little about the truck that I'm looking @ ... it's an 04 FX4 Screw, with pretty much every option available ... very clean (minus 1 small dent, and some scratched), 35k miles ... asking price, $24500. I'd like to get them down as low as possible ($21k or $22k?), but would like some guidance.
Any help you could provide would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

While you are looking at the prices for "04 and '05, you might also want to take a look at the prices for a new '06 -

With the Ford factory incentives available right now (up to $4K or maybe $4.5K plus whatever the dealership will give you) a new '06 doesn't seem to be so much more than what you might pay for an '04 or '05 - you might get a good deal and better financing IF you can find the truck you will be happy with. Getting a deal close to $10K or more off MSRP doesn't seem unreasonable at all.

You also get some extra financing if you go with Ford. It is a simple interest loan, so you can finance it, get the discount, then go ahead and pay off the loan if that if that is what you choose to do. As for me, I intensely dislike truck payments so I pay off my loans as quickly as possible.

With the value of the smaller Ford Ranger holding up well because of the spike in gas prices, the full size F150 might even be available at a better price in the future if gas prices don't drop, and I for one don't expect them to ever drop very much. I believe that $2.75/gal or more (in Atlanta) is here to stay...

The F150 is the best selling full size truck ever, and this looks like it might be the best F150 ever. Except at the end of the model year that can almost make it a "buyers market". Sure the dealer can find another buyer if you won't pay his price, but we as buyers can surely find another truck from a dealer who wants to sell it at a good price.

Best of luck finding an F150 that you will love as much as most of us love our trucks.
