I got mine, now I want out...

I purchased my 2004 F-150 STX 4x4 last August and with the rising gas prices I need to find a way out of it. I've only got around 6,000 miles on it but they depreciate so much that I don't see any way out. I don't have the money to put down to trade for a rice car. If I had that kind of cash I wouldn't be looking for a way out, I'd have gas money. Anyway, if anybody has some thoughts and ideas I'd sure appreciate them. I hate to get rid of it because I love this thing but I just can't afford to enjoy it. I have to ride with my wife to work so that we don't burn much gas. I have some bills that will be paid off this November that would make life easier but it is very difficult to ride with my wife because I have so much stuff to keep up with in my truck that I have moving it around all the time. I need my own ride every day but it's too much in gas to drive it. Anyway, thanks for reading. I hope someone has input.

Just go out and buy a POS 1989 honda 2door (or some other small compact car). Then run it until it needs major repair, then get rid of it.

Is your gas bill really that high?

I calculated mine up to be about 300 more dollars a year (comparing 1.75 per gallon vs. 2.10 per gallon) But i only fill up (22 gallons of gas) every other week. I guess it all depends on how much driving your doing with it.

I agree...my mother-in-law just sold her POS Saturn for $1500 with 100K miles on it. You could still drive it daily without much expense, jsut nickel-and-dime stuff (if you care to fix it). If my commute were more than 10 miles then I'd buy it and run it into the ground.

Keep the truck, park it for a while, and get a cheap-o 4-cylinder and drive it to death.

Good luck!!
