Question How many quarts in the trans

How many quarts of transmission fluid will I need to do a complete fluid change??(including the torque converter). I found one post where it was mentioned 14 quarts. Is that the correct amount? Will be doing the change myself this time because I want to use a synthetic blend.
thanks.

Cool

It takes 13.9 qts., but only add small amounts when you get close to compensate for trapped fluid.

That sounds about right from what I can remember when I did mine, according to the owner's manual. Your owner's manual does have the exact amount in the capacities chart. Just remember on our trucks, you can drain the torque converter (which holds LOTS of fluid). If you don't drain the converter, and only do a "pan-drop" fluid change, you will only get about half of it out. You might also find a little plastic acorn shaped piece floating around in your tranny pan - don't worry, it's supposed to be there, just throw it away when you put it all back together. Hope this help.
