Question Factory_Tech... I got a question.

Are you familiar with the 4r70w transmission?
What can I do to improve it?
Thanks

Thanks for asking that question.

So how about the 4R100? If you had your way, and could change it as it is off the line with no consideration for comfy smooth shifting, what would you do?

I've seen so many things, including the replacement accumulator I found the Lightning forum (which sounds like a really easy way to install a kit); or wait, is that your's?

Thanks for any advice....

I have a 4R100, and mine has an accumulator, pump boost valve and deep plugged pan. THere are a few other things but nothing I would recommend to someone who doesn't work on transmissions, not exactly "do it yourselfer" type stuff. For the most part it's bullet proof, I worry about the converters, so a good aftermarket converter maybe, but I don't know enough about any converter builders to tell you any one I would trust.

To pick your brain a little more, what details can you share about the accumulator and boost pump? Does a shift kit like the Baumans or Transgo basicly do what you're taling about for the accumulator?

When you say deep pan, are you refering to the OEM 4x4 pan? I am planning that at the same time.

I'm not sure I'm going to tackle any of it myself if I can find someone I trust. SO far no luck though

Family Ride,
The accumulator is basically the same as the transgo kit I think, but I'm not sure. The pump involves removing the tranny and pulling the pump, more than what you prolly need in my opinion. E-mail me and I'll send you some info.
