Post Draining the torque converter

To drain the torque converter on a '92 f-150 do you remove the rubber plug and drain it through that hole or do you need to remove that entire metal plate behind the converter?

rubber plug. roll the engine over till the drain plug is in sight. DO not overtorque the plug when you put it back!
