Question 1991 F150 E4OD

I own a 1991 F150, with an E4OD transmission connected to a 5.0L v8. I had the transmission rebuilt at 109K miles due to slipping when shifting into overdrive. I now have 4K since rebuild and am experiancing slipping when shifting between 2nd and 3rd, a double clunk when shift into reverse, and shifts into Overdreve too soon. I ordered a shift kit to take care of the problem, but not installed yet. I was wondering if anybody can give advice about the so called shift selenoids, what are they. Should I adjust them first? can I adjust them? what is involved in replacing the selenoids. And what about the shift kit, should I install it as well?

Cool

Hi, I seen your question on my trans. clunkin page. Can I ask you why you had to have the tranny rebuilt in the first place? I believe that if it's clunkin when goin in reverse it is the drive shaft. If you get under there and can move it back and forth it is the drive shaft.I'm goin to the tranny guy today to see if he thinks mine is slippin cuz the seliniod is bad. Hope that is all it is! Do you have a button for your overdrive? I always hit the button before pullin out.If I don't it really clunks bad.I also have a 90F-150 and the over drive is gone.It has no button.I do alot of haulin and so I never use overdrive. C ya!
