Question Does anyone know

Hi Guys. I've sure learned alot here.

This question may have been asked before, but have a 99F250LD SC 4X4 4.6L with auto. trans.

2 coolers mounted in front of radiator, not counting the a/c cooler.

One cooler for the a/t, the other cooler seems to be going to the power steering res. Unless my eyes arent right?

Cant figure out why this cooler goes to ps.res?

Any info on this would be appreciated.

Have a good one! OT

Cool

Uh, is this a test? That would be a power steering fluid cooler. It stops your ps fluid from getting too hot and have you lose boost at low speed or roast the seals.

It's interesting that you have that on since I have a 5.4 with Supercooling and I don't. I have engine oil and transmission oil coolers.

OT,

Ian is correct it is a power steering fluid cooler. All the 97+ F-150s have this.

Ian,

Take a closer look and you will see one of them is a PS fluid cooler and the other is a engine oil cooler.

Talking

Hello Canada, Thanks guys. Nope, wasnt a test. HA

Doubled checked, does go to ps res. Wasnt familiar with it. No engine oil cooler on this truck, think i would rather had that than the ps res. cooler? My old 88F250 had engine oil cooler. BTW 10+ years on old truck, not a problem with power steering, etc, just normal wear stuff. That was really a great truck, not so sure about this 99 model? Sometimes i think i shoulda kept it, and just put the big $$$ into it. HA

I learn something new almost everyday. I believe i read somewhere, that my F250Ld, is now a F150 Heavy duty. Go figure.

Thanks again for the info. OT

JMC - you might be right. I never bothered to follow the transmission lines all the way forward. I'll be doing that next and if you're right, the next mod will be a transmission cooler! (Ford is really starting to **** me off - first no 4.10's and now no tranny cooler - what are they thinking?)
