VSS gear????????????

When I put differnt tires on, it didn't effect the speedo any, but if you put a noticable differnce on, it will effect the speedo. A micro tuner will take care of this problem, and its an easy install.

I put on LT265/75/16's from P235/70/16's and it was about a 2" height difference. It changed my speedo/odo by about 5%.

When I say the truck drove different, I mean the shift points seemed off. Not because of the gear reduction, but because the tranny takes it's shift cues from the VSS gear and therefore the speedo. My speedo was going 'slower' then the truck was really going. If it showed 60, I was really going about 64.

Had to swap out the 19 tooth for a 20 tooth. Brought everything back into sync. Truck shifts like it did before, and now the speedo/odo are correct again. Just rolled over 96k miles!

Well thinking about it, you have a new ride, so you don't have a VSS gear. At least not like the older models have. Your calibration change has to come by reprogramming the computer. Not sure on the specifics on that, but it can be done.

285's will be about 33" tall. My 265's are just over 31" tall. You might feel some power loss with 33" tires if you have the 3.55 gears or higher.
