transmission trouble
I have heard that on some 1997 F-150 trucks the transmission was built with the wrong valve-body spacer plate on the E4OD automatic transmission. I am having trouble with my transmission {it shifts into overdrive at about 30 mph. and doesn't want to downshift when I come to a stop in drive}
I was wondering if anyone else has this problem and if Ford did build the transmission wrong then should I have to pay for it. Or did I miss one of the many recalls this lemon has had.

I have a 1994 F-150 4X4 with that junk transmission. Mine is in the shop right now because when it shifts from first to second it bangs into second gear after I have driven it on the highway. It also bangs into drive or reverse when this happens. After I drive it in the city for a while it goes away and shifts normal. When this is happening, it takes quite a pull on the engine before it will downshift from overdrive. I just called the transmission guy and he said he is replacing the valve body.
I think the E4OD is a junk transmission.
