Replace transmission filter or not at 6K?
nomo,
you're welcome. I should thank you for "convincing" me to change the filter. I have some more observations after driving about 30 miles.
1. This trans runs VERY cool. Freeway driving (70mph) max temp is 150F.
2. It took 15 miles, a number of hills, and some stop and go driving to get to 170F and ambient temp is 85F.
3. No question! The transmission is way smoother. The truck feels great. My wife even commented that it feels as if there's less resistance to forward motion. She said the engine and trans feels "looser".
I'm still not sure as to the effect of the Baumann shift kit on level 3. I need more time to determine what's going on, but I'll provide more information if possible.

Thanks GoDogGo.
I have some things to add after spending most of the weekend under or in my truck.
1. The Baumann shift kit on level 3 DOES make a difference.
After a week of driving, I'd say that for regular driving the shifts are quicker. Under hard acceleration the shifts are firmer but still very "comfortable". However, if I were doing it over I'd start on level 4.
2. It's soooo much fun having the transmission temp and oil pressure gauges hooked up.
As I'd mentioned, the trans warms up to 180F after 30 mins of driving, including some hills, but is stable at 150F doing 70mph on the freeway.
3. If you're going to install gauges and want to have them change their brightness along with the dash, then hook up the hot wire to the blue/red wire on the back of the dimmer switch.
4. The factory oil pressure sender is a 1/4" NPT fitting. I used a T, 90 and a 45 to hook up my mechanical pressure gauge and still keep the factory sender. At cold idle, the pressure is 80psi. At warm idle the pressure is 40psi. But driving is a blast. The gauge acts like a tach. You touch the gas pedal and the needle "jumps" to 80psi instantly. With every gear change the needle deflects considerably ... AMAZING.
I've yet to hook up the water temp and oil temp senders. I might get a T fitting for the oil pan, but I'm still "in the dark" as to where I want to install the water temp sender.

After a few weeks of driving with the Baumann shift kit on level 3, I'd like to offer some advice.
Disconnect the battery before you start the installation. I say this because the trans shifts much better now than two weeks ago. I put this down to the onboard computer's ability to "learn". I didn't disconnect the battery, and I should have. My wife usually drives the truck, and she's commented that when she turns off the OD, the downshift is much quicker ... she likes it. The shifts in general are firmer, but still very comfortable.
