99 Navigator 4R100 slipping bad

I also have a Navigator that has started slipping bad. It did not happen gradually. It went from perfect to total slipping. I have to baby it up to 20-30mph and then it will go like nothing is wrong. But if I have to stop, it is back to total slipping.
It shows no fault codes. It has 136,000 miles of mostly highway, no towing. Fluid has been flushed at 60K and changed at 110K.

Is it the Torque Converter, Solenoid, valve body?

If anyone has an idea let me know!

Thanks, Steve

gatormike, I had an auto that slipped for 2 minutes at 1st morning takeoff. After that good rest of day. Torque converter check valve leaked letting fluid out of converter, pump had to refill. I just let it go for the next 50K.

I pulled the pan and found some metal that appears to be a pieces of a bearing cage on the magnet. Any ideas?

Check your fluid levels. I assume you all have 2wd's as my nav has the E4OD in it. I have run it 30 or more miles 6 quarts low slipping like you wouldn't believe at 100MPH, filled it up and it still hits like the day it was new. And check for leaks. Some leaks only develop while driving and can stop when you park and pressure is relieved. Look underneath for wetness all the way back, and check the back window for an oily film. Take pictures of the stuff you found in the pan and post them up.
