Question Front End Noise.

I have been running my truck for about 5 months now on and off road. It has preformed well, I put on a set of BFG M/T and now it is better yet.

Then comes the first major snow fall of the year 1' in 12 hours. Cooooool, eh! Not quite, because at the time when I need it the most my front end starts to make some wierd noises.

Symptoms:
Only notice the noise in 4wd(hi and lo).
Front right auto locking hub was warm, not hot, just warm.
The sound seems to be coming from the left(?)
Noticed small scratches on the inside of the right rim(brand new I might add) just where the lip is for the tire bead to set.
Happens all the time when in 4wd.
Starts to shake like a MF when you hit about 40mph.

I need help, the ford dealerships are quite busy and have quoted me at least a 5 day turnaround.

That sounds bad.The shaking like a MF occured in 4H? Going that fast in 4L can cause violent shaking. If it was in 4 H you have got bad news something in the front part of the 4x4 is broken.Oh, I just remembered something. One of my dads friends bought a brand new F150 4x4 and took it out to the woods the following weekend.Shifted into 4H and the thing started bucking and shaking like crazy.Turns out ford "accidentally" put the 3.55 gear in the front and the 4.10 in the rear.Boy was he mad.But it got fixed and all is good.Hope this helps in some way.

This really belongs in "Other Drivetrain".
You never did describe the noise, 88 Bronc.
For a 12 year old Bronco, when was the last time that:
The front driveshaft U joints were checked?
The left and right stub axle U joints checked?
The Right axle shaft intermediate U joint?
The Right axle shaft slip joint cleaned and regreased?
The pilot bearings that are INSIDE each spindle, cleaned, inspected, regreased?
Front differential oil level checked?
And Autohubs cleaned and regreased, if you have them.
There are a lot of pieces in a Dana 4WD setup that need to be maintained for it to work well. And not a good time of the year to work on one outside!
If you descibe the sound you hear, and more detail on when you hear it, we might be able to help.

I have to say that I like the "MF" description. I will guess that's a very technical matter.

Anyway, I hope that by this time you are on the right track to get it fixed.

Good luck.
