Question Weak transmissions?

More and more people I know are having problems with there 97+ transmissions going out on them. Is this a reoccuring problem with ford transmissions? They have all been automatics on 4.2 and 4.6 engines. I like the new fords but have heard bad things about fords in the past (probably just the whole chevy vs ford thing though). Is this a problem that many people are experiencing? I have a '98 2x4 ext cab with a 4.6L with a towing package. Do fords come with beefed up transmissions if they come with a towing package?

I have a 97' 5 speed and my transmission is fine. Sometimes it acts up and sometimes it seems to shift clunky and sometimes I screw up shifting. But I can't say it's weak.

Crash add a SC to his 5 speed and it holds up, alot of people are putting out alot of horsepower or pull heavy things and there transmissions are fine.

Larry-

A external transmission cooler is the only thing that is added as part of the towing package for the transmission. In my opinion the 4R70W is a reliable transmission with regular maintenance done on it.
