Transmission clunk
If I press the accelerator when my truck is at a speed of ~18-28 mph and coasting, I hear a loud clunk (or thunk) as the transmission "re-engages". It doesn't seem to matter if I mash down on the pedal or if I depress it gently. The Ford service tech told me that this is normal because the control chip "disengages" the tranny while waiting to see if I'm going to brake (decelerate) or resume accelerating. In any case, they've put me in the transmission queue to have it checked next week.
Any thoughts or comments from anyone?

Check out the rear topics under other drivetrain section. Sounds like the slip yoke.

I have the same thing happen, when I let off the gas and coast a bit then add some power I get a CLUNK like the transmission is floating between 1st and 2nd and then clunk, it engages hard into 1st gear. I dose not happen any other time. I have not checked with the dealer yet, I'll let you know what I find out.

About two months ago, I had a similar experience. After driving for about fifteen minuites at 45 to 50, I pulled up to a stop sign and when I pulled away, BANG as it shifted from first to second gear. This continued for the next 10 miles (as I was now in an area that had many traffic lights and stop signs). The second gear shift was LOUD and HARD. I was really concerned about the universal joints taking the shock, it was that hard. I knew there was a dealer near my intended destination so I decided that I would go there after completing my business. When I restarted the truck and headed to the dealer, the BANG was gone. It shifted normally.
It hasn't happened since, so it had to be something in a chip somewhere.
