Question '01 F150 Supercrew - Different Trannys on 4.6L and 5.4L?

I'm looking to order a new (2001) F150 SCrew before Thanksgiving.

I was told that the 4.6 may have a different tranny than the 5.4.

Yes or no?
Is one "more better" than the other?
Better service record/history?

The engine selection is the last on my list to resolve before ordering.....

Thx!

StrongWind,

Somebody's fibbing to you. Both trucks utilize the same 4R70W 4-speed automatic tranny.

Some other F150 models and Expy's, etc.... use either 4R70W or 4R100 depending on the configuration ordered.

The 4R70W is supposed to have a proven track record for dependability. Versions of it are used in a few Ford products. As for "more better", The 4R100 has a higher Torque rating, but it isn't available on the Supercrew anyway.
