Question transmission

I was looking to purchase a 95 f150 I6, when I came to a stop the automatic transmission would shift to neutral and then 3 seconds later back to drive. I checked the fluid level, it was low, 4 qts. After adding oil, the truck shifted properly. Could this cause a long term potential problem with the transmission? Is there a site where I can get further information on reliability issues with this model?

Gee, that's a good question, if I allready owned it I'd fill'er up and drive it till it dropped, but buying it is another thing alltogether. If the fluid still has good color it may not have done much damage. Don't suppose you could get a week long test drive, to see if you get any slip page. If it was gonna do it, it'd be likely to do it right away.

Yea, I agree. I would worry if it's leaking slowly or a stopped up filter causing it to push out the dip stick or something (a sign of poor maintenance). Either way I am with F_T on the "I'd be nervous aout this one" approach.
