Post cruse control down shifting

Hello,
Just bought a 99 f 150 4x4 used and it is the only vehicle I have owned were the cruse would down shift the transmission to hold the set speed! The speed drops about 5 miles per hour and it will downshift. This was pulling a trailer 70 mph and pulling a grade in 3rd w/cruse off! Needless to say this is a hard downshift and does not seem right it is not where the coverter locks unlocks what ever its going into 2nd. The proper thing would seem to be what all previous vehicles did, cruse dropping out after losing about ten miles per hour. Has anyone else's truck done this? Is it time for a little warranty work?

Question

I don't recall owning a Ford that didn't work the way you describe. Maybe someone else has, but it sounds normal to me.

Every ford truck I've had would go to third & if needed, second to mantain the set speed.
