Transmission # 2 And a Rear End!
Well, I am on transmission # 2 now dropped my truck off on Monday at the dealer, due to a LOUD clunk in the rear end. When I looked at it, it looked like someone was inside of the rear-end trying to "punch" their way out! "pretty bizarre" said the service rep. "Well, Duh" I said! They called me today and told me it needs a new tranny too! Man what is next!

I am on my 2nd differential also. Last week the dealer installed tranny #2. Mazda 5 speed. Why Ford uses an 8.8 rear end on a 5000+ pound truck is beyond me. My 97 destroyed a rear end and I also had a 2nd tranny installed. I see a pattern here.

Not really sure yet what happened....they said something about a faulty ring gear, or something like that. It was so bad that they called the Ford rep out to see it. I will keep you all posted, I get it back Monday!
