Question Tranny Cooler Installation

I am in the process of installing an aftermarket(Hayden)tranny cooler on my 99
F-150 and was wondering if it really matters where you tap into the return line? Do you have to tap into near the radiator? I was going to use fittings instead of cutting my return line, but I can't seem to find anyone who carries them for a 99. I picked up some for a 97 and they wouldn't fit.

Same problem here. I've spent about 3 months looking for fittings and finally found male fittings at NAPA but could not find or get even from NAPA the female. But I did find a double female coupler which I installed on a male to make a female. Haven't done the install yet due to lack of time but will complete the job in a week or so. I don't see any reason this shouldn't work. I couldn't bring myself to cut a line either.

When looking for fittings make sure you ask for Inverted Flare types. I found the double female coupler at Trak Auto.

Good Luck!

Thanks Tiger for the input. Since I couldn't find the fittings I needed, I did do the dreaded cut and tapped into my return line. Everything seems to be working after fixing a small leak.
By the way that is a nice truck you have! It is nice to see such pride in ownership.
