4 wheel drive to 2 wheel drive

I have a 1988 Ford F150 4 wheel drive, 5 speed truck - can I use the same transmission to make it 2 wheel drive and if so what do I have to do.

Ron: The transmission probably is a Mazda 5-speed, and I believe that the tranny's are identical. Is the tranny going into/from the same engine. Bolt patterns are the same for the 300,302 and the 351
