My 96 F-150 Automatic with 65K miles has developed a shudder when at a steady speed. Sometime it is almost like the engine is missing but with acceleration it goes away. Any ideas of what it might be. I know the info is sketchy.

 

My wife's mustang had the same trouble....we took it back to the dealer, and they upgraded the fluid to mercon V, but ya gotta have the whole system flushed out.
converter, lines, cooler, tranny...

Several members have mentioned this problem and the fix has been to drain/flush the tranny and torque converter. Give it a shot. It's time for you to service that tranny anyway.
