Smile New Auto Trannys?

Hello out there to any of you Ford Transmission Experts:
I had a 97 s/c 5.4 motor, was the automatic a E4OD?, I was always under the impression of that's what I had.
I now have a 00, same type, what tranny do I have? Is it the above or the 4R70W? By the way both trucks had or have tow pack.
Now my final question, if what I have or had is it the old C6 with over drive?
Good explaination gets a gold star for their forehead....
or a Thankyou....Take Care

Well, I just answered one of my own questions, I have a 4R70W tranny.
I crawled under and found it, also found a sticker that reads: All US and Canadian Dealers, before repairing see TBS 99-14 and call us at 1 (800) 551-0692, it also says VOID AFTER AUG31,2000.
Any takers out there, who can answer this????
Who has a TBS book?? Please post if you can find this TBS 99-14
Take Care.....

DC we do not have a C6 with OD.
The C6 is strictly a mechanical/hydrolic tranny.
The new trannies are all completely computer controlled through electronic solenoids.
No vacuum modulators like the old C6.
This is how superchip can affect shifting.

Well I'll tell you regcab, there's a difference between the 97 and 00, like day and night, no wonder everyones getting a super chip to help there shifting.
I to will be one that will buy one, I had planned on it for HP and not so much for shifting,OH Well....

Dogcam,

Are you saying the shifting is worse in the 00 or better in the 00?

I am saying the 00 f-150 shifts like a car, soft, my 97 with the same options, shifted firm and it down shifted alot smoother than my new truck.....This is just my opinion......

Pull out the dipstick on your transmission to see which one you have the 4r70w will have a blade type dipstick while the E4od will have the bullet (cable) type dipstick. I thought that all 4x4s came with the e4od but some people have told me otherwise on this website
