Post Leaf Spring Woes

I have a 1997 2wd Reg Cab F150. The overload springs are starting to "kick out" from the rest of the spring pack. The top 2 are clamped together and are fine. I have never seen this before. The dealer tells me that "it's not a very good design" but won't fix it. Any clue on what to do? There must be a recall or something?!?!?!

There was a recall on the 4x4's and they added clips to mine. Maybe you could look into these clips and see if you can use them.

I added the 4wd clips to my 2wd. My binder clips were loose and ratteling. They were easy to do(you need a floor jack) and cost about $12.00. I think the box is in the garage. I'll get the part# if you need it.

Thumbs up

Does the new clip include all 3 leaf springs or just the top 2? Also, if it does include all 3 leafs, where does it mount (in front or back of the axle) and what's the part #?? Thanks all! Again I apologize for putting this in the trans. area....

Thanks, but the bottom (overload) leaf is the one giving me the grief. I'll figure out something. I'll be sure to post it (w/photos) if possible. Maybe I'll just remove it! I don't haul anything anyway!
