My 95 F-150 seems to shift out of OD at 70 mph, and I was advised to try this: When it shifts out, turn the OD switch to OFF, and if you feel another downshift, then thats' a true downshift. What you feel with the original slip is probably the torque converter clutch releasing.

that is exactly what mine does, mine will release at 80 mph, I doubt that is normal because I can drive for miles with the t/c unlocked, I wander how long til she blows
