Auto Trans Recalibrator

Auto Trans Recalibrator
Having just looked at f150online again after a 12 month hiatus, I saw a new product from Auto Trans called the "Recalibrator". This electronic black box adjusts the signal from the electronic speed sensor to compensate for larger/smaller wheels or other tire differences from the factory original. I changed the tires on my '97 F150 4x4 XLT Supercab from the General 550AS to Goodyear Wrangler RS/T 265/75/R16 and noticed a 10% speedo difference (going 55 when speedo says 50). I would like to know if somebody has installed this recalibrator kit, and if so could they write about what they think about the product, and any caveats in the installation.
Thanks!
Thanks!

A while back they installed one of these on a Shade Tree Mechanic episode. Looked pretty easy. You have to cut the wires from the speed sensor and splice it in line. There is a set of dip switches you set based on the percentage difference between the old and new tires. The best I can tell this thing is just a pulse multiplier. When you put on bigger tires the pulses coming from the speed sensor are less and this just multiplies them back to the correct number for any given speed. I was considering one for my truck but the 98 and 99 models can be reset in the computer.

A Hypertech programer will also adjust for different tire heights. They are a little bit pricy but they will also recalibrate for diffrential gears and adjust automatic transmission shift points as well as add more timing for increased hp.
