I have a stock 1990 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat 4x4. Has an auto tranny and 5.8L engine. Recently it started hesitating and hard shifting into second. Every other gear is smooth as glass. It seems especially in higher RPM's the hesitation is longer and the shift is more abrupt.

Any thoughts or suggestions? As far as I know it's the orginal tranny.

When was the last time the tranny fluid and filter were changed? I would start there.
