4r70w electronics...

does anyone here know if the 4r70w tranny has "learn as you drive electronics"? i'm pretty sure the 4r100 does, but not sure about the 4r70w. just asking as i did something yesterday that a friend suggested. i disconnected the battery cable for an hour on my truck. then reconnected and went for a spin. my harsh 1-2 upshift seems to have disappeared. am i dreaming or can this really be happening? i was under the impression that the 4r70w had set shift points, and they wouldn't change....thanks for any info you can provide...

The computer is the only part on your truck that has that "adaptive" learning ability. Your transmission is just mechanical parts.

What 02XLT said is true but , the computer (ECU) controls the transmission......sooo.....maybe it can learn by virtue of it being controlled by the ECU.

Good question, Troy. I hope someone who knows for sure posts back on this. I would like to know also.
