I know this has been discussed before but I can’t find the thread. My shifter **** keeps slowly rotating but I can’t figure out how to take if off. I would like to put an after market **** on, one that won’t spin. Can anyone help me?

Also does anyone know of any after market shifter ***** that fit the F-150?

To get the shifter **** off, just Yank! It doesn't screw off, at least it didn't on my 2000. I replaced mine with a Hurst shifter that fits my hand. I'm not interested in a performance truck or I wouldn't have bought a 4000 pound vehicle with a V-6, but I do like the sure-grip feel of the handle.

I was able to find mine at Pep Boys, but it was the only one in stock. It has a small set screw to tighten it to the shaft. A couple of passes with black electrical tape to cover the sharp edges and it works. Send me an email if you want pictures and I'll run out with the digital camera and take a few.
