Question for Factory_Tech & others
I am towing a 5400 lb TT with my 2K F-250 SD with a 4R100 tranny. I hate the way it shifts with the factory set up. What can I expect if I install a your Factory Tech valve body? I am bothered the most the way the tranny shifts from OD to Passing then then to 4th. Will I see any improvement in this sloppy shift?
It would great for others to share their experience here as well.
Thanks

I'm not sure if there's any Super Duty owners that have the Factory Tech valve body on this site. I have it in my 4R100 trans. 99 F250 LD. It works awesome. The shifts are firm (not harsh or bucking) and quick. Well worth the $200.00. You can look into a Transgo kit, but it requires drilling and it's not reversable. The FT valve body is a easy bolt-on, plus you can also return it to stock. Check out the Lightning forum, there's several "L" guys have them and I have never read any complaints about it. I sometimes tow a 6000lbs. Bayliner in the summer up here in AK. It shifts much better going up mountains and passing those damn slow motorhomes.
P.S. I see that you're from Bismark. I'm from Minot.

Hmm...very interesting. I just picked up (okay, 3 or 4 months ago...) a used 99 F250 LD 4x4, and I truly hate the way this truck shifts...
So, not being from the Ford world, where can I pick up this Factory-Tech unit, and how difficult is it to install?
Thanks,
Pat

Greg is a great guy. I had a problem last year with my tranny and he real lifesaver helping me diagnose it.

It's a great kit, not only will it work on Super Duties, it was actually originally developed for 7.3L diesels, any E4OD or 4R100 from 97 Model year up will take the stock one, the 96 and older models I have to special make for you and there's a core deposit, but the final price is the same either way.
As for towing, 5400 lbs is pretty light in the greater scheme of things, it'll work fine. This is one of the very few times I would recommend turning of the OD until you get onto the highway, though.
Hope this helps,
G

Thanks for the responses. Not sure if I am 100% convinced that the Factory Tech valve body will give me the kind of shifts I want. But, I don't know that any other mod will either. Guess, I will order the kit this morning and give it a try.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

I just ordered mine from the website, i should see it n the middle of the week. Then next week the kenne-bell goes in, i cant wait for all the extra hp and sweet shifting. I will let everybody know if they are interested.
Hey ScottyBones- Good Luck on getting your unit by the middle of the week. I called PSP this morning and they can't even tell when my valve body will ship. More demand than supply. Wish I had known sooner I would have made different plans as I was certainly counting on have it installed before this friday.
I just emailed them, I was planning on istalling mine on sunday, but from what you have said and since i have not received any type of shipment update i am guessing i am in the same boat as you. Wish i would of know that they were out of stock for a while, i could of spent that $200 on something else, they order the unit when they do have stock, but i guess i will just have to wait.
Maybe Greg will work some extra OT to meet the demand and your Sunday schedule can be still be met. My is feeling the PSP folks aren't concerned tho. When you are the only source for a popular item great "customer service" isn't high on your list of priorities.
