Now What's Going To Blow...??!!

Hey when stopping i'm feeling a small thud ...it feels like the t/c is unlocking after i come to a stop? also the shifts get a little funky once in a while... overreving ..and once it never shifted hit the rev limiter...i noticed a small leak near the rear end of the tranny ..no spots on the ground just a lttle wet near the tail ... i had my rear gears changed to 4:10's so they changed the speedo gear in the back of the tranny where it seems to be leaking...i heard this might be an electrical problem...the fluid doesn't look burnt on the dip stick...also i installed a 75mm throttle body and bored out the upper intake elbow..i don't know if the computer is confused and trying to learn shift points again or i have a big problem here ...i'm also going to be installing a trans go kit and baumann valves with amsoil synth fluid ...so i don't know if some fresh fluid and filter might help.. or do i need professional help..heh heh

Hey RoushFan-1,
How many miles are on your truck? It sounds like you might need a tranny fluid and filter change? First, I would ck current fluid levels as well as look for leaks or anything unusual under or around tranny housing. If all is well, this problem should be solved with new fluid. I have read on this forum about similar problems with mileage around 30k and changing fluid solved there problem. This would be an inexpensive way of trouble shooting problem and take out one less variable!
If that does not work, couldn't hurt to go to local trans shop and have them test drive and give a diagnosis.

Hope you don't have in major tranny issues!
good luck!

Sorry, I know almost nothing about the 4R70W. Ask Mark Kolvasky, he's pretty good with them.

Changing my fluid/filter got rid of the over-rev delayed shifts when I hit the freeway onramp with a cold motor/tranny (in the mornings).

It's back a bit now but nothing like it ever was so I'd change the fluid out first. Do your valve mods, etc at the same time.

If you have more than 30k miles on the fluid it's old.
