Shift RPM Question
Shift RPM Question
Does anyone have trouble with their auto-tranny not down-shifting properly? I will pass someone on an incline and a lot of times I will have to let off the gas almost completely to shift back out of the passing gear. Is that normal? I realize it takes a little more power when going up hill but this is pretty wierd.
I have a superchip so my shifting is normally pretty good. But recently I've noticed it will sort of "stick" between 3000 and 3500 rpms.
any thoughts?

"passing gear" is not an actual gear in your transmission like 1st and 2nd are. All your tranmission is doing is either unlocking the torque converter or shifting to a lower gear. Many things are concidered for shift timing. Engine load, throttle position, and vehicle speed are some of the basics. By passing that car on an upgrade changes all of these and may not allow the transmission to shift..............this condition may be normal........your superchip may also play a role in the shift timing of your vehicle.
