Anyone here know much about mustang T-5's?
Anyone here know much about mustang T-5's?
Sorry for it not being a truck but I'm just looking for a little info.
I'm replaceing my main shaft on my trans because the hardening on the main shaft inwhich the input shaft rides on broke down and became damaged.
The problem I'm having is that the used shaft I have doesn't have the hole for the detent spring and ball on the 1-2 snycro hub, the sleeve will not slide properly over the old one (the one with the hole) so i must use the used shafts hub. My problem is that I don't know if its a must to have the detent ball and spring in there as obviously at some point they did not use them.
If anyone knows I appreciate the information, thanks.
BTW this is an 89 mustang 5.0, T-5
Don't know what year the used shaft is out of, but everything else is identical except for no hole provision in the 1-2 syncro hub (splined and pressed on mainshaft)

Another great site to look at is www.gearzone.net
They have lots of info about T5's. I've used their stuff (including a bearing plate retainer). They are good guys.
Hope that helps.
