Is it a manual? I got a 97 XLT 4.2 w/ 5-speed and my 2nd gear went out at 48,000. Have seen alot of posts under V6 and transmissions for people having problems with the manual transmission.

SVTPWR99 - I had Level 10 do work on a mustang I had a couple years back and I was VERY impressed. The guy who owned it, I think his name was Pat, was very hands-on and answered all my questions. The other staff was very professional and a great group of guys. At the time I had them do a shift-kit, tranny cooler and A-servo (helped keep overdrive band from burning) and it made a tremendous difference in the way the car ran. Eliminated all slippage between shifts, barked the tires every shift from 1-2 and 2-3. I would definitely go back there, when I next have a need - right now I'm driving a stick. Back mid-90s, when I lived in NJ, they were doing the trannys for most of the fastest Gen1 Lightnings in the area (that were running at E-Town). I'm sure they're doing the same today. Either way - good luck with your tranny, hope you get those 2nd gear gremlins worked out. Later
