Flashing overdrive light

On the way to work this morning, the overdrive light on the gear shifter started to flash. Wondering if anybody knows what it means. Thanks

That's your transmissions MIL.

Similar to a check engine light but this one is telling you that there is a malfunction in your transmission. If it's your transmission, then it's always serious.

Get to the dealer right away and have it checked out. It's very important that you do as little driving as possible till you know what's wrong or you may need a whole new transmission.

Can you give us more info?

bc29627-
Can you give us some more info about that? I had the same problem with my truck several times, and have a few ideas what it could be if you can give a better idea of what is happening....Either way, I would bring it to the dealership. I have made many posts about the same thing. Let me know, I might be able to give you some advise on what route to take with the dealership.
Does it downshift hard? If so, around what speed?
Does it reset when you shut the truck off and restart it, and then it happens agian?
It could be something as simple as a missed shift point, but if it is downshifting or upshifting really hard, I would say that it could be a valve body in the tranny that is bad. That is what happened to mine, they replaced the tranny, and then another part broke in that tranny, so they replaced that one as well. I am on my third tranny.....So I have a good idea of what it might be. Just let us know.
Welcome to the site, Hopefully I can give you some help.
David
